Looking for Room Parent Volunteers!

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! Do you want to get involved directly with your child’s class? We’d love to have you join us as a Room Parent! We’re looking for at least one Room Parent per class, but each class can have up to three.

Tell me more!

Room Parents are volunteers who help out in their student’s class, helping with class events and facilitating communication between the PTSA, teacher, and other parents in the class.

What are the responsibilities of a Room Parent?

  • Act as a liaison between the teacher and class parents
  • Collect and manage funds for class (class funds cover teacher and staff gifts, class parties throughout the year, staff appreciation, and more!)
  • Communicate important information from the PTSA and school, including reminders and sign-up forms about events, activities, field trips, etc.
  • Organize class parties (we generally organize 4 parties a year)

Requirements to be a Room Parent

  • Complete your background check. Any parent who volunteers at Somerset is required to complete a background check. The background check is valid for three years, so if you have already completed one within the last three years, you’re good to go!
  • Join the PTSA. Room Parents must be an active PTSA member.

Great, sign me up!

You can sign up to be a Room Parent here. Don’t forget to include your student’s name when signing up, as we'll need to verify that information.
